We must get as accurate a picture as possible of what the electricity needs are expected to be over the next 20 years under a variety of scenarios.
We must look at our current inventory of energy supply and determine how much of a shortfall we will need to make up over the next two decades.
We must look at all the possible energy options available to us, analyze each one based on a consistent set of criteria, and determine which ones make the most sense technically, economically, environmentally and socially.
We will draft a resource plan and give you an opportunity to review it and comment.
We will finalize the plan and submit it to our regulator, the Yukon Utilities Board.

You have have a chance to ask questions and give input throughout this process. In 2016, many of you had an opportunity to complete a survey that focussed on your hopes for Yukon’s electricity future. Knowing that any energy option requires trade-off, we asked you how would you balance issues such as environmental protection, cost, reliability, and sufficient supply.
